Nairobi to experience cloudy skies as Coast, Rift Valley brace for rains - Kenya Met
Coastal counties, including Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale, will experience intermittent showers in the morning and afternoon, with stable temperatures around 31°C.
Kenyans should prepare for continued cloudy mornings in Nairobi and changing weather conditions across the country from September 19 to September 22, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The department has forecast showers and thunderstorms in highland areas both east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the coastal region.

In Nairobi, mornings will be mostly cloudy before breaking into periods of sunshine, with occasional rainfall.
Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 30°C, while nighttime lows could drop to 6°C. “Most of the country will enjoy sunny intervals, but areas around the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria, and the Coast will have occasional rainfall,” the department noted.
Residents in coastal counties and south-eastern lowlands should anticipate strong winds from the South and Southeast, with speeds exceeding 25 knots.
Western highlands and the Lake Victoria Basin are expected to see morning showers followed by afternoon thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 9°C at night to 31°C during the day.
In northern regions such as Turkana and Samburu, sunny conditions will dominate, though light rain may occur by Monday.
Temperatures will peak at 36°C–37°C. Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo will remain mostly hot and dry, with highs between 37°C and 38°C, although occasional showers could appear over the weekend.
In Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado, sunny spells are expected, with some areas receiving light showers. Daytime temperatures will range from 31°C to 34°C.
